Pursuit

     Micah woke up as light shone through the window. He shot up, confused about the unfamiliarity of his surroundings, but felt more at ease as he remembered where he was. He was in his new room at his new home.

     He walked out of his new room and saw that no one was awake as he walked down the hall, seeing that the door to Kiya and Suzuki’s room was closed. There were two other rooms that were right across from Micah and the girls’ rooms, but he didn’t want to open the doors out of fear of what might be behind them.

     Micah was at the eastern outskirts of the city, looking for a mailbox that had the right number for the two girl’s house. He somehow managed to find at the entrance of a small trail that led into the forest. Micah followed the strange trail deep into the forest until he reached a fork.

     Micah closed his eyes and took a whiff of his surroundings. One path had the heavy scent of lotus petals, but the other had the scent of soot and jasmine. Micah followed the scent of soot and jasmine, remembering the strange scent on the book. The scent of lotus petals was most likely going to lead him to a body of water rather than any being.

This is the rough first chapter of Pursuit. I have written a total of three rough chapters, which I will later rewrite to incorporate some old ideas that I had from the first time I wrote Pursuit a few years back. Some critique would be good, since it’s still in the works. I took this rough off of my Facebook notes.

     Micah ran through the crowded streets of Areschi. These very streets were riddled with various beings—human and non-human alike. Micah looked back, clutching a dark-red leather-bound book close to his chest. He could not see his pursers following him, but he knew that they were there somewhere. Chasing him as predators to prey. However, Micah made the mistake of failing to pay attention to what was going on in front of him. This lack of focus caused him to collide with another.

Been working with Kiya’s fighting style as to how it would work. It would have the foot-movement of Chinese dancing along with the hand movements of a Korean folk dance with some Paso Doble. There would be some movements from Filipino folk dancing. Yes, it will be a fighting style, since the movements would work well with some thoughts in mind~
